Staffed by a poisons information specialist and a team of physicians experienced in Clinical Toxicology, the information center provides 24-hour assistance to the public and health care providers on diagnostic aspects of poisonings and envenoming; appropriate first-aid care; antidote related information and appropriate referral, at no cost to the caller. Staff members are also involved in educating hospitalized poisoning and envenoming patients on safe storage of pesticides and snakebite prevention measures as well as in conducting home-visits and community based preventive education and awareness activities.
