For Children..


  • • Store all the medicines,house hold and garden chemicals in a locked cup board,up high and out of reach of children.
  • • Children should be encouraged to take their medicines without reffering to them as candy & sweets. Be positive without associating them with food or drink.
  • • Children should be encouraged to enjoy the plants in the garden without eating them.
  • • Keep plants which are poisonous out of reach of children.
  • • Know the names of plants in your garden and your pot plants,so that the correct information can be given if it is needed.
  • • Do not take or give medicines in the dark.
  • • Read the instructions prior to use of medications.
  • • Use child-resistant packaging. Replace the caps tightly after use.
  • • Store kerosene, petrol in labeled containers in locked area or out of reach of children.
  • • Store insect spray and weed killers (Eg.rat poisons, cockroach killers) in locked area.
  • • Keep all poisonous household cleaning products (Eg. Dish washers, bleaches, soaps and detergents) in original safety top containers or out of reach of children or in a locked area.

For elderly..


  • • Accidental poisoning may occur in the home or workplace
  • • The elderly people are very prone for accidental poisoning because of the forgetfulness, confusing between one medication to another, taking more dose than intended, mistaking in identifying the medicine containers. There should be a constant vigilance on what they are taking, especially medicines.
  • • Always read the labell carefully-“instructions for use” should be printed on the container.These instructions are important and should always be read before every use,even if you have used the product before.
  • • Protect yourself from poisoning, especially if there is smoke, fumes or lot of chemical split.
  • • Do not take any natural or herbal supplements without consulting your doctor.
  • • Write dose times on a calendar and make a check mark after each dose is taken.
  • • Medication errors are a common problem, especially for the elderly who may be on many drug treatments
